Position Overview:

This leader is responsible for the complete lifecycle of designing, developing, and deploying the intelligent agentic AI systems that facilitate seamless interaction with users and the ERP application, strategically leveraging the advanced services offered by Google Vertex AI, including Vertex AI Agents and Functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide strong technical leadership and effective management to a team of skilled agent developers and NLP engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence within the Vertex AI ecosystem.
• Architect the end-to-end design and underlying infrastructure for the agentic AI platform on the Google Cloud Platform, ensuring optimal utilization of services such as Vertex AI Agents (Conversational AI and Generative AI Agents), Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, and related GCP compute services.
• Oversee the comprehensive development of agent workflows, encompassing critical stages such as natural language understanding (leveraging Vertex AI’s NLP capabilities), sophisticated dialogue management, seamless action execution (involving API calls and database interactions facilitated by Vertex AI), and the generation of coherent and contextually relevant responses.
• Lead the integration efforts for AI models deployed on Vertex AI Endpoints (developed by the Data Science team) into the core functionality of the agentic systems, ensuring smooth and efficient operation.
• Establish and maintain robust tools, frameworks, and best practices for the efficient building, rigorous testing, and reliable deployment of intelligent agents within the Vertex AI environment.
• Ensure the high scalability, robust reliability, and optimal performance of all agentic solutions deployed on the Google Cloud Platform, adhering to industry best practices for cloud-native applications.
• Implement and enforce stringent security protocols and best practices for all agent interactions and API calls executed within the GCP environment, safeguarding sensitive data and ensuring system integrity.
• Collaborate effectively with the ERP Integration team to guarantee seamless and secure connectivity between the agentic AI platform and the ERP system, leveraging appropriate Google Cloud integration services.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Python: Expert-level proficiency.
• Agentic Frameworks: Strong hands-on expertise with LangChain and/or AutoGen, including custom component development and integration within the Vertex AI ecosystem.
• NLP Libraries: Practical experience integrating NLP libraries such as spaCy and Transformers for tasks like text processing, entity extraction, and intent recognition within agent workflows.
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Deep understanding and practical experience with Vertex AI Agents (Conversational AI and Generative AI Agents), Vertex AI Functions, Vertex AI Endpoints, Vertex AI Model Registry. Strong experience with Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, App Engine, API Gateway, Cloud Storage, and familiarity with Firestore/Datastore (for agent state management) and Pub/Sub (for asynchronous communication).
• API Development & Integration: Extensive experience in designing and consuming RESTful APIs and potentially gRPC for interacting with the ERP system and other relevant services.
• Orchestration & Workflow Management: Experience with tools and techniques for managing complex, multi-step agent workflows.
• DevOps: Practical experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines (e.g., Cloud Build, Cloud Deploy) for deploying agentic applications on GCP.
• Containerization: Proficient in using Docker and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes (Google Kubernetes Engine – GKE) or Cloud Run.
• Extensive and demonstrable experience (5+ years) in the complete lifecycle of developing and deploying sophisticated AI-powered applications, including conversational agents or complex agentic systems, with a strong and proven focus on the Google Cloud Platform and its Vertex AI Agents service.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python programming and strong practical experience with other relevant programming languages as needed.
• Significant hands-on experience with prominent agentic frameworks such as LangChain and/or AutoGen, including the ability to develop custom components and implement advanced integrations within these frameworks, particularly within the Vertex AI context.
• Solid understanding of API design principles and practical experience in integrating various types of APIs (RESTful, gRPC) to connect diverse systems.
• Deep and practical experience with core Google Cloud Platform services, including Vertex AI Agents, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, App Engine, and Cloud Storage.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Relevant Google Cloud Professional certifications (e.g., Cloud Architect, Developer).

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related technical field.
